A woman who goes between her thriving and daring career as a jewel thief, all whilst trying to get her daughter back from social services, we see a mother in despair swept up in the exhilarating world of crime.
Joan gives up her daughter to foster care in what she fully intends to be a temporary arrangement to protect her daughter from thugs coming after the girl's dad, but (SPOILER) she spends the rest of the series trying to get her daughter back and is unsuccessful. in the finale she kidnaps her daughter intending to run away so they can be together but in the end decides the girl will be safer and more secure with the foster family who want to adopt her. the involvement of a social worker who favors the foster parents may be particularly triggering for some.
Joan doesn't forgive her abuser however there is a scene where she confronts him and other characters try to persuade her to forgive them which is potentially triggering
Joan's ex grabs her and slams her into a wall on two separate occasions, the second time he also grabs her face and slams her head into the mirror behind her.
Joan is sexually harassed by her older boss, he is shown groping her butt and making lewd comments.
Her ex also tries to force himself onto her in episode 2, but he is interrupted before he can assault her and he leaves.
