17 year-old Ree Dolly sets out to track down her father, who put their house up for his bail bond and then disappeared. If she fails, Ree and her family will be turned out into the Ozark woods. Challenging her outlaw kin's code of silence and risking her life, Ree hacks through the lies, evasions and threats offered up by her relatives and begins to piece together the truth.

There is no V in this movie! After Jennifer Lawrence gets beat up and she’s back home they are cleaning her up and hand her a glass of water to wash out her mouth and she spits out blood and water.
This is not a happy film but the protagonist eventually accomplishes her goal. By the end, she learns her father has been murdered but is still able to prevent the loss of her home and is able to keep the remaining family she cares for together as well receiving some unexpected money.
