Life for former United Nations investigator Gerry Lane and his family seems content. Suddenly, the world is plagued by a mysterious infection turning whole human populations into rampaging mindless zombies. After barely escaping the chaos, Lane is persuaded to go on a mission to investigate this disease. What follows is a perilous trek around the world where Lane must brave horrific dangers and long odds to find answers before human civilization falls.
This movie contains 59 potentially triggering events.
saying yes here is weird bc its pharmaceutical drugs specifically to try to find a cure/vaccine/etc from zombies. its not addictive or recreational drug use.
Near the beginning of the movie while the family is at the supermarket, two men accost Karin to rob her, she screams "that's all I have" but they proceed to try and tear her pants off before Gerry saves her.
No, however there is an attempted sexual assault while a supermarket is being looted. We see a woman being held down by two men, who are quickly killed.
The zombies look grotesque and their transformations, shown as twitching, flexing and bending of the body (still within humanly possible limits), could be upsetting
If I remember correctly, it's never shown on screen but zombies throw themselves off of high places and slam on surfaces, which would surely break several bones.
If sacrificing without death as a result counts: Three people walk into a building with zombies to retrieve something important. The other characters doubt, that they will survive.
(spoilers?) while the main characters are staying in a families house to hide from zombies, the zombies come back and I think the entire family except for their young son gets bit
No vomit in this movie. There is some black liquid on clothing that might be seen as “zombie vomit” but never is anyone shown throwing up or can we hear anyone throwing up.
There are a few earlier scenes, specifically the scene in Philly, that is reminiscent of the 9/11 attack and a later sequence that references Flight 93. There are also nods to 9/11 conspiracy theories where Israel had foreknowledge of the attacks.
5-6 total needle insertions are shown towards the end of the film. You can see them coming, but one is really abrupt after a quick scene change and caught me off guard.
It’s not that they just attempt it, but they end up succeeding, but most of these suicides are caused by people being bit by zombies, and killings themselves so they don’t turn
More of an asthmatic attack than an anxiety attack, but it felt like one to me based on the stress level of the scene. Towards the beginning of the film when the family is in the RV.
a man gets bit by a zombie and, off scene, is implied to walk into the plane propellors to avoid turning. another man is being bit by zombies and sets off a grenade to take out himself and the nearby zombies
*SPOILERS* When Brad Pitt goes to Israel, there's a plot where Mossad had advance knowledge of the zombie threat and kept it a secret from the world; a nod to 9/11 conspiracy theories where Israel had foreknowledge of the attacks.
This movie has a full section of pro-Israel, pro-apartheid sequences that erase the Palestinian struggle. The real-life apartheid walls in Israel are painted as necessary and an act of extreme benevolence.
It's not a sad ending as it ends on how the world is adapting to the situation, but things feel a bit hopeless with scenes capturing the aftermath of the apocalypse.
