A pie-maker, with the power to bring dead people back to life, solves murder mysteries with his alive-again childhood sweetheart, a cynical private investigator, and a lovesick waitress.
Digby (Ned's dog) dies in the opening scene, but he is indeed brought back to life and featured throughout the show. There are birds and squirrels that die throughout the series, but I'd absolutely recommend watching it (even as an avid DoesTheDogDie user).
To a degree, as multiple episodes feature main character briefly bringing murder victims back to life who usually die in strange ways i.e. one character dies in a deep fat fryer
In one episode, a man believes a life-size carpool doll is alive and is his girlfriend, and violently strangles his friend with the doll's hands when he tries to point out that she isn't real.
In season 2 episode 6, a magician "swallows" a mouse and then pulls it out of his mouth, unharmed, but I would still consider it [fictional] animal abuse.
A major character loses their eye in the story, however, it is a non-graphic scene. However, this show is full of graphic corpses which become reanimated. The act itself is often not seen, but the after-effects are frequently.
In one episode, there is a character who has an arm amputated. They show the amputation but there is no blood/gore. Some gags with the character removing the prosthetic arm
One episode takes place primarily at a circus, and a clown car is driven off the road killing all of the clowns, so a parade of clown bodies is pulled out of the car.
Emerson Cod gets stuck in a window and Chuck says that he looks like Winnie-the-Pooh. There are mild fat jokes about the Schatz Brothers in the early episodes.
A dog is hit by a truck, but revived. A woman is killed and physically torn apart by a van but no blood or gore is shown. A man is run over by a car and has tire marks on his face.
Spoiler - Main character drowns and is brought back to life. She is shown on screen being pushed into the ocean and filmed from under the water. The drowning is mentioned occasionally.
