There is an extreme close-up of a branding of a cow that looks pretty real to me. In 1956 I'm not sure how they could've faked it back then.

Somewhere around half an hour in (give or take a few minutes), look away when they unwrap something from white cloths. It is a severed cow's head is served from under a white cloth, and the characters discuss "eating the brains" and "get it while it's hot." Yuck.
