caden salivates a lot and it’s a bit wet, it’s not over the top but it’s gross to look at and hear. once hazel and caden get their food at the restaurant, just skip ahead a little if you’re really sensitive to it.

The main character, apparently a cis man, is mistaken for a woman named Ellen by a nearsighted older woman, although it's not done maliciously. He later tearfully confesses that he sometimes thinks he would rather be a woman, and he wants to be seen as pretty. After this he hires a female actor to play him in a play, and he presents in a subtly more feminine way for a couple of scenes but this doesn't continue until the end. It's only a brief part of the film and it's hard to say whether the film "intends" for the character to be read as trans, but it's very odd and could be confronting for people who have triggers around misgendering.

They are not blood relations, but there is an abusive relationship between a young girl and her mother's lover Maria who is a second mother-figure for the child. She is groomed as a child and the relationship continues into adulthood, and she continues to love her abuser. While occasionally funny, overall it's an extremely bleak movie that speaks directly about loneliness, depression, and death, and the ending doesn't let much light in. You may want to skip this one if you are not in a good place.
