Scarlett has a complicated relationship with her parents and is not prioritized. She spends a lot of the season with her grandma because her parent do not make the time for her.
Ramona Royale’s father has dementia and he becomes a vampire after his dementia progressed which leaves him mostly catatonic. This plot point is resolved by Ramona humanely killing him.
Children are turned into vampire-like beings and kept at the hotel, however, they don’t seem upset or even aware that they’re being held there. A young girl is neglected by her parents and cries to her father because he’s rarely there, and the mother abandoned her. There’s a group of vampire kids who are killed. A young girl runs in front of a car and is hit and dies, but it’s later revealed that she’s a vampire who has been around for at least a few decades.
I don't recommend even trying to watch this if sexual assault or rape triggers you.
There is a horrific one about 20 minutes into the 1st episode that lasts ages. Its very graphic and long.
40-50 minutes into the second episode too. Another horrific rape/murder where a woman is bound, crying and being slashed with some sort of weapon while being raped.
I'd argue there's a sexual assault scene at the very end of episode 2 where the model starts kissing a guy he met online. He's clearly gay and gets uncomfortable that a woman (lady gaga) has just shown up to watch. They then kill him and drink his blood while lady Gaga's character get turned on/kinda touches herself.
Several characters consume human blood, but the characters aren’t exactly human so it may not count. Otherwise, cannibalism is alluded to but not explicitly shown.
Sally scares a character by grinding her teeth until they fall out and her mouth is bloody. However, she is a ghost, so this is very temporary and is more of an illusion.
It is very brief but the serial killer John Wayne Gacy is shown in his clown makeup. He is infamous for being Pogo the clown. He used his costume to lure young boys places and kill them. His clown makeup is briefly shown in some scenes. He was a serial killer clown when he was alive.
episode 10 a girl with measles coughs/vomits to the side while laying on the floor.
episode 11 a man and woman froth white out of the mouth while stitched to sally.
episode 12 a man after being injected by sally throws up/foams on the carpet .
Sort of but sort of not. The 10 commandments killer turns out to be John Lowe, the cop we follow throughout the season. He works with his department to figure out the killer and ends up murdering his partner. I personally think this season does not frame the cops as being super competent or helpful.
In addition to the elderly woman who was mentioned, another character is revealed to have cancer in the final episode. She is one of the main characters.
Here are the specific times for any attempts, mentions of, or deaths similar to suicide:
Episode 1, minute 54-59
Episode 2, about an hour in, ending at an hour and 5 minutes
Major plot point of episode 10
Episode 10, carries into episode 11
Episode 3, minute 8-10
Episode 8, minute 30-32
Episode 12
There is a good chance I missed some, watch at your own discretion.
A character is a transgender woman. She’s seen crying in feminine clothing in a flashback to when she identified as a man, but for most of the show she is seen as confident and comfortable in her own skin. The residents of the hotel are respectful of her pronouns.
There are graphic sex scenes in every episode, often with 3 or 4 people. Gaga’s character frequently has sex with people and kills them in a bloody manner in the process. Bentley is shown completely nude, but shot from a distance in dark lighting.
The end is very bittersweet. A girl is left without a family. Ghosts are left at the hotel for eternity (?), but decide to make the best of it. Can be emotional, but not terribly sad.
