Gru is a bit sus. He’s portrayed as Slavic, not necessarily Jewish but there is a historical conflation between the two. Gru also has a prominent hooked nose and has a history of stealing priceless items. Maybe not something the creators realized but it’s there.

I don't know if this is what the "yes" votes are talking about but Bratt derogatorily asks Gru "How's the transition going?" There's a chance there wasn't transphobic intent to this bit. Still, Trey Parker (see "transgender Garrison" arc in South Park) and Illumination (see the various "man in a dress" jokes in this series) have made transphobic jokes without any real representation of trans people. Hence, I'm inclined to believe this is more of the same.
