The main character plans to murder his wife and almost goes through with it, but has a change of heart. The two of them go on to reconcile and it's clearly suggested that the man will be a loving husband from now on. However, the same man brutally chokes his (former) mistress toward the end of the movie.
To me it didn't rise to the level of sexual assault, but it'd be fair to call it sexual harassment. A rude gentleman gets into the woman's personal space and kind of touches her arm/side, first with the side of his body, then with his knuckles. She is clearly uncomfortable but too shy to say anything. The rude gentleman swiftly gets his comeuppance at the hands of the woman's husband.
Major plot point. A man is cheating on his wife with another woman. The wife (and other people in their community) clearly know what he's up to, and the wife feels humiliated and lonely.
There actually is audio for it, the original version of the movie, the Fox Movietone version, has a built in soundtrack (it was the first film to do so actually), that includes music and sound effects, including car horns in one scene.
