A bunch of characters have had only one of their parents raise them on their own, due to the other leaving / never revealing that they're a parent.

It is mentioned that one of the main characters was abused as a child, and this event is referred to a few times throughout the show, with barely any detail.

I don't think it's ever phrased as "someone became an abuser because they were abused" but in this episode it is revealed that one of the abusers of the show has been abused

Mentioned throughout the series, but a focus/recurring plot in S2.
**(small) spoiler below**
A main character is shown to be pregnant, and the baby is stillborn following a violent car crash. There is a hospital scene that shows the aftermath, including the baby and the parents’ reactions in the immediate aftermath. I think this is in S2 E14-15

Recurring subplot throughout season 2, including trying to figure out the cause/motivation of the parent’s death. The death scene is quite graphic and although the scenes are quite short, they are repeated flashbacks across multiple episodes.
S3E4 a parent dies, but the parent was not really present in the series and they were very abusive during a main character’s childhood

Honestly all the characters are mentally unwell. In season 4 there a large part of the plot is a court case that focuses on a man who was very violent while in prison. The show approaches it in a manner to show that the violence is connected to the US prison system not treating and directly worsening his already existing mental illnesses.

In S02E14 there is an extremely graphic depiction of an emergency c-section in which the baby does not survive. This is a flashback of something that happened to a major character. This character had also miscarried before, seemingly multiple times, in much less physically traumatic ways.

Relatively minor, but a male character starts crying at an emotional moment. A female character makes a disgusted face and asks "What, are you crying?" in a skeptical tone. The male character plays it off as just allergies.
