When the girl that detective Joe Hallenback is protecting gets murdered, the boyfriend of the murdered girl attempts to investigate and solve the case. What they discover is that there is deep seated corruption going on between a crooked politician and the owner of a pro football team.
There is a golden retriever that lives through the movie, but also two Doberman Pinchers that die offscreen in an explosion. Little time is spent on these two dogs, merely being present in the scene. Explosion is seen in far distance.
A woman is being held under the water at a pool party to try and force her to give oral sex to a man. She is screaming and thrashing underwater as the daytime party goes on casually around them. The man is not concerned about her drowning and, after some time, a character has to intervene. She is underwater for an extended period of time, but she comes out relatively unharmed.
One of the main characters, Joe, has a 13 year old daughter. Joe says that her makeup use will lead to her sleeping with all her school mates by the time she's 14.
One of the villains makes a comment that could be interpreted as threatening to assault the daughter.
