Sort of? During the elephant stampede, it is implied that several of the outsider lionesses are crushed or kicked off screen. They don’t visibly show this, though, they just sort of drop out of view as they are about to pounce on the heroes.

Toward the end Taka (Scar) does get the scar that is his namesake over his eye by a slash from Kiros. Technically not eye mutilation, as it’s outside it and the actual eye seems to be fine, but just a heads up.

Taka’s father and mother know that the white lions mean to decimate their pride; so they send Taka and Mufasa away as quickly as they can so that they aren’t killed and can buy them time. Their (implied) death is not shown on screen.

No, but just to clarify: Taka is trying to create a romance with Sarabi for a good chunk of the movie, but Sarabi ends up falling for Mufasa. Taka sees them nuzzling / falling for each other and becomes visibly distressed / heartbroken [SPOILER] enough to seek out Kiros and his pride and betray Mufasa.

Mufasa is kept with the lionesses as a form of dishonor. He’s not referred to with pronouns other than he/him.

White actors voice (animal) characters in an African setting, but only less significant roles like the comic reliefs and the villain. All significant roles are voiced by Black actors.

There Are multiple darker Lions that gets killed. But the first death is a white lion, and afterwards the darker Lions gets killed by white lions. Scar is like one of the few surviving dark lions. The lion king movies have a way of referencing racism and discrimination. This one seem to have a hint of referencing puritanism and white supermacy. The lions Are however a bit toned down shade wise to the cartoon.

There Are aspects of the movie that makes it sadder than the other lion kings movies. Both mufasa and Scar lose family members and they never regain their relation, Also knowing the story of lion king might make it a bit sad. Otherwise the movie ending is mostly happy
