One character references the Quran early on in conversation, the mother is detained for not wearing a proper head covering in public and chastised for it. I believe that is all. It’s set in 1980s Iran so there are some legal restraints on women that relate to religion. So religion (which is Islam in this case) is not specifically mentioned much but may still be a present or referenced in the visuals the movie.
At one point in the movie a main character is arrested and briefly detained in a room/office before being released with a warning for not wearing a head covering in public.
there is the typical exchange of supernatural horror movies, where one person believes in the supernatural but the other person says it isnt real. i wouldnt call it gaslighting, since the mother isnt intentionally trying to make her daughter question her sanity and (spoilers) the mother later believes in the spirits that her daughter told her about, but it could still be a problem for some with trauma of gaslighting.
Somewhere around 25 min in the movie a neighbor calls for help where her old father lays in a sofa unconscious. They perform CPR on him but it dose not work.
Technically, no. There are angry air spirits, which behave a lot like ghosts do in American horror movies but at no point do the characters suggest it's dead people tormenting the family.
A plane doesn’t crash, but within the first half hour there in a missile crashing into a building (it does not explode, but is shown hanging through the ceiling)
In the beginning a bomb goes off nearby and we can see the cloud of smoke through the window. There are several crashes and explosions heard through out the film as there is an active war happening in the background.
