Obviously there’s horse racing, but the intent is to bring attention to some of the abusive practices of the industry. Let’s hope it was a net positive despite these horses being put in risk with the support of the movie production.
Nearly 10 horses die each week on track in the USA (2018), almost all race horses suffer e.g. because of stress and sores in the mouth, and many are killed prematurely when they are seen as useless - for example because of being predisposed to leg injuries, as demonstrated in the movie - i wonder if that has ended up happening to some of the “actors” irl.
