Not exactly, but one character drives an hour+ to show up unexpectedly at an ex's dorm/home. It's invasive and unwanted contact. The same character also previously called her several times from unknown numbers and stayed silent on the line. It might be upsetting to some.
While not technically abused, A main character was heavily controlled and bullied by her parents as a child. A large part of the series deals with the reparation of their relationship.
not shown but in season 4 episode 14 "the incredible sinking lorelais" there is a bit about rory seeing a horse die as a child which has lead to a phobia. we don't see it on screen
Lorelai's pets before Paul Anka, as well as Michel's dog. No animal deaths are actually shown. Paul Anka does ingest chocolate and becomes ill but is fine.
Jesse attempts to assault Rory but stops the attempt when she starts using force to back up her spoken non-consent. Very likely triggering to anyone who has repeated the word "no" and had it ignored. You're not alone.
There are 2 episodes where large fires take place but no one is seriously harmed.
There is a running joke that the chef Sookie is very clumsy and she injures herself frequently, including burns, but never seriously.
Not shown on screen but Kyle loses an arm in the navy and has a prosthetic arm replacement which is shown and discussed. He doesnt appear upset or traumatised and everyone is kind about it
Only by other minors eg. Teens dating each other.
Miss patty flirts with pretty much every male onscreen young or old but doesn’t act on it with the younger men
One kid calls his friend the R word (they’re like 8) it’s in S4 E3 at the lord of the rings party. Right after Lorelai says “hi I’m Julie I’ll be your cruise director”
No, but in S4:E16, "The Reigning Lorelai," A grandmother/great-grandmother passes away (Lorelai the first, Richard's mother). However, no kids' parents (or MCs' parents) die in Gilmore Girls. Regarding other comments, the miniseries Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life mentions Richard Gilmore's death and shows scenes of his funeral. The actor who had played him had passed away IRL. (But doesn't that show have a separate entry?)
2 episodes have brief scenes
-After the house party Lane gets sick, it's right before the scene changes, you can mute, sounds aren't too bad
- ***SPOILER*** During Lane's bachelorette party one of the girls get sick in the background while they're standing near the gazebo, again, sounds are terrible.
Neither have visual
There are very few instances with police at all, and the Stars Hollow police are generally the butt of a joke because there's so little crime in the small town.
Nothing very graphic is shown. Characters are visited before and after giving birth, having heart surgery, after a minor car crash. Scenes are sometimes emotional but not graphic.
The Gilmore Girls eat a LOT, in every episode, but I don't remember specifically a point of any noticeable eating noises. Just know it's possible with how much food is central to the characters' personalities.
Season 6 episode 18: there's a scene where the Gilmores are all fighting and the camera goes back and forth constantly and the camera is all shakey as if someone was holding a phone camera.
In season 3 Episode 14 "Swan Song" when Patty starts singing when practicing her one woman show Kirk starts flashing the lights. They continue flashing after the people have walked out so you're not safe until it cuts to the Gilmore House.
Then, in the first episode of season 7, when Kirk drives through the new red light camera to demonstrate, look away if flashing lights bother you. The camera flashes like 4 times in succession. At least it doesn't last long.
little spoiler ! after rory and dean stayed the night in mrs patty’s dance room, lorelai begins to get suspicious of rory ajd thinks she might be pregnant; and tells her “that’s it, your going on the pill”
S6E19, Lane’s wedding- Her husband is wearing a traditional wedding outfit to honour Lane’s Korean heritage, it resembles a dress, there are various jokes about it. Nothing blatantly transphobic, but enforcing some shame & stigma around men embracing femininity!
Two character are driving while eating ice cream and you're led to believe that's what caused the crash but later you learn it happened while trying to swerve around an animal.
