In the midst of the wedding princess Miroslava is kidnapped by a dragon and carried away into his castle on the remote island. Mira left everything behind in the past - family, friends and groom. Now the only things she had were a stone cage and a mysterious young man named Arman ... but who is he and what is he doing on that island? Miroslava will know the truth too late: loving a dragon will reveal the bitter truth - love is scary.
I guess? Arman's father is killed by the Dragonslayer, but that's because Arman's father is a terrible person, and he's killed in his human form.
Mira does try to kill the lemur / racoon creature that Arman keeps as a pet, but doesn't hurt it
*SPOILERS*
Yes, near the end when Mira is taken back to the island by Arman, she kisses his dragon form, which he canonically cannot control. It's weird cause he is a Dragon Shifter, but also states that he can't control the dragon form, so...
Near the end of the first act, Mira attempts to jump off of a cliff to escape the dragon, a jump that absolutely WOULD kill her. She does jump but is saved by Arman.
*SPOILERS*
Near the end of the movie, Arman attempts to take his own life, because he doesn't want there to be anymore Dragons, however before he dies, Mira sings the song that summons the dragons and unintentionally saves him.
It can be argued yes. Mira's character trait is that she loves fairy tales and playing with toys, and near the end of the movie, one of her toys gets stomped on, however the toy is fine afterwards.
No but Arman chooses to take his own life, out of fear of hurting someone as a dragon, and says that he doesn't want their to be anymore dragons. So it could be seen as an attempted sacrifice
Kind of. Arman stays on the island because of his fear of hurting people as a dragon, but Mira goes out of her way to spruce up the island and make it more like a home.
Mira is forced to leave the island by Arman because he is scared he'll hurt her, neither of them say goodbye to each other.
*SPOILERS*
When Mira summons Arman again, she doesn't say goodbye to her family or her people.
YES! A major plot point is that Arman's father would take the women sacrificed to them, hold them down, and burn them alive to birth new dragonshifters. It's shown on screen, and has HEAVY Sexual Assault vibes.
It could be implied that Arman is older than he looks. Both Arman's and Mira's ages are never stated in the movie, however Mira looks around 17-19. Mira is being married to Igor, who is the dragonslayer's grandson, who looks around late 20s early 30s at best, maybe mid 30s. Arman was a kid when Igor's grandfather killed his father, so Arman realistically would be around Igor's dad's age, probably around 40-50 at best. So yes, Mira being 17-19, and Arman being 40-50, not a great gap, though Arman DEFINITELY doesn't look or act his age, so it's up to you if you want to ignore the age difference or not.
In the first act, Arman does stare at Mira while she takes her dress slightly off to rub a medicine on her wound. She calls him out for it and he doesn't understand why it's a problem. Less creepy and more naive, but still wrong.
In a way, yes. It's seen in the movie that Arman's father would kidnap the brides that were sacrificed to him back to the island, hold them down, and burn them alive to birth more dragon shifters. It's clearly meant to be a metaphor for sexual assault, and it is shown.
Mira is kidnapped by Arman, though because he can't control his dragon form, not intentionally. Still wrong but important distinction.
Multiple woman are kidnapped by Arman's dad.
YES! Arman HATES that he is a dragon, he wants to be human, but only became a dragon after he saw his father's murder. Arman literally hates himself and almost commits suicide so he can't be a dragon, though with Mira's help, he learns to love and control his dragon side.
