The main character begins to feed a stray cat, but one day finds the cat dead outside. It's unclear how the cat passed.

there's a 100-legged bug (sorry the word is triggering for me, but for reference it's the "c" one) is present throughout the book. it's not an actual bug, it's a device and *every person sees something different* type of situation but that's what the protagonist happens to see in this sci fi story. it's part of the main plot point so it reappears many times and you cannot avoid it unfortunately.
HOWEVER because it's not an actual bug, it doesn't really act "buggy," though its many moving legs are still referenced and it's moving around someone's neck like a freaky necklace.
i listened to the audiobook so i cannot be sure if there are any images in the physical book.
sorry i forget if there were any other bugs in the story but this is certainly the most prominent one.
