There is one scene of an animal getting hurt, however it seems fake and there are no articles or anything findable about an animal getting harmed during the filming.

Is there D.I.D. misrepresentation?

This movie is based off an autobiography (When Rabbits Howl) of a real system with D.I.D. There is plenty that is accurate because of this, but a number of things were over dramatized for the sake of the movie. The movie does at least start with a disclaimer saying it's a dramatization, which helps the audience understand that from the beginning. But if you want accurate representation, it's better to read the book, if possible, because of liberties taken in the movie. (The main negative is the overarching narrative of them traveling with the intention of killing their abuser, which I believe was made up for the movie. So the inclusion of that definitely adds to stigma and is a misrepresentation).
The Troops offer representation of a number of less covered topics, such as somewhat larger systems (over 90 alters), that integration is not the only path of healing, and they show that there are different relationship dynamics between alters etc. Among a number of other things.
