Not in the usual sense (except perhaps for the strict father mentioned in another comment; we don't know how bad his methods were), but both the triplets and several others had their lives manipulated by non-relatives from infanthood in a way that caused some of them pain - which is why the documentary was made. And not only were they put in the potentially painful situation in the first place, there was also a number of people who saw them suffering throughout their childhoods and still chose to withhold information that might very well have led to their suffering being eased or even stopped.
