I realize they don't actually injure animals when filming movies, but the depiction of it is the same as depicting a child being punched in the face. These are defenseless creatures and I don't care if it's a Malinois.

There is a plot point about the main character not being home often enough to walk the dog or feed him on time. Once he pees inside and she comes home and apologizes to him for not being there — if this kind of thing makes you sad, it will definitely make you sad! Another time the dog goes to his food bowl but it’s empty because she hasn’t come home. Dog is ultimately fine.
