not for a while, but yes, in the 8th chapter there is a violent stray dog is killed in self defense. It's not a pleasant scene but isn't especially graphic; there's no noise, just a low-res pixel dog with blood on him, then its gone. I'm usually deeply upset by dogs dying but could handle it ok.
