Welcome to "Escape the Night." In this surreality competition series, hosted by Joey Graceffa, 10 guests are invited from the modern world to attend a dinner at his newly acquired mansion estate, which has been locked in the 1920's; when America was roaring... roaring with madness. This is a dinner party to die for. No one is safe.
This tv show contains 44 potentially triggering events.
Season 1, Episode 7. Madison (The Mermaid) is abused by her husband (he hits her, throws a drink at her and then blames her for his violent outburst against her.) It's the intro if you wish to skip this.
throughout the series, many people consume drinks (though not specified whether it is alcoholic or not), however, one character in s3 e5 is seen constantly drinking whiskey
Sort of? In S2 E3, there's a Jorogumo which is a yōkai from Japanese folklore meaning "woman-spider." She does grow and retract spider legs a couple of times in the episode.
S2E5 has a minor character getting his hand attacked with a meat cleaver and S3E4 has the main characters finding severed fingers and placing them back on the hand they were taken from
While there is some blood and gore throughout most of the explicit violence happens off screen. The worst of the on screen violence is in S2E7 where a character has her heart ripped out of her chest. The actual action is off screen but we do get a closeup of the heart in the attacker’s hand
This one is more in an abstract way but characters at several points volunteer for death challenges, all agree to vote for themselves for the death challenge effectively sacrificing themselves and one instance of a character purposely losing a death challenge
Season 1 does have a circus episode, but not sure about the clowns part. Season 3, particularly episodes 1 and 2, is full of clowns. A clown also makes appearances in S4 E10.
S1 E3 has a seance in which a character is a vessel of a spirit's soul. S3 E9 could arguably be one as well; the Collar of Control possesses and controls those who wear it.
The character Vincent in S1E9 has hallucinations and kills his doctor and Lucy in S3E9 doesn’t have an specific diagnosis but is definitely mentally ill being out in a straight jacket while in prison and definitely violent by tearing out the eyes of the cop who abuses (physically) her
The character Willy in this episode does not have D.I.D. but several characters refer to him as having it because he quite literally switches mood at the drop of a hat by rotating his his faces between Happy, Sad, Angry and Scared
This one is really only on technicality, Colleen Ballinger was pregnant at the time of filming but not even she knew it at the time, no reference to her character being pregnant are made and her being pregnant wasn’t at all a factor in her death
Tana, Gabbie, Rosanna and Colleen have to make a bid to be The Emperor’s wife. In this time they are objectified some intentionally like Tana but most against their wishes
Season 3 Episode 9 is full of this.
Also there's a vampire orgy in S2 E2 and one of the challenges has the guests playing perverse games with mannequins.
And Season Four Episode 8 arguably. Two of the characters end up making out on a table.
It really depends on the season and what your definition of sad is. Right now we're on a cliffhanger and still waiting for closure. DAMMIT. WHY DID YOU OPEN THE BOX?!
