[Spoilers] It is a core game mechanic. Many puzzles require you to set yourself on fire, which causes the main character to scream and flail, and she moves in a very injured way while still on fire until you regenerate. Can be pretty graphic and disturbing, but the entire game is about the main character being horribly injured constantly to the point of even just being a rolling detached head, so it comes with the territory.
