In 1950s Australia, beautiful, talented dressmaker Tilly returns to her tiny hometown to right wrongs from her past. As she tries to reconcile with her mother, she starts to fall in love while transforming the fashion of the town.

the town makes nasty comments towards McSweeney's brother, barney, who is assumed to have multiple disabilities but exhibits mostly heavily stereotypical autistic characteristics like stimming and a bit of slurred speech. he isn't abused but he is threatened to be kicked out of the town several times id he doesn't cover up stuarts accident. there are also sly comments by teddy about trading his 'slow' brother to spend more time with tilly. so just in general autism + disability rep is so stereotypical and horrible
