No one says these words out loud verbatim to the best of my recollection, but 2 prominent characters attempt suicide on-screen (in addition to the completed suicide that drives the plot)
D's dad has Alzheimer's but it is limited in visual. There is one scene with Sophie and him after she finds him that might be emotional for those with personal experience.
Not shown, but there are references to Jon and his college friend having been supposed to get on a plane used in the 9/11 attacks. You see the plane ticket information, and it is specifically talked about, but no visual I recall. There is visual of people standing around watching the news, crying.
One character is an alcoholic but has not had a drink for many years (some flashbacks show before he went to rehab and it is frequently discussed). Starting in mid season 3 a character is dealing with an addiction to Vicodin.
Spoiler: Delilah gags and rushes to the bathroom in season 1 episode 6. This is after she gets of the phone with the bank after the loan is denied. Nothing is seen, but the gagging may be triggering.
Season 1 episode 9 - flashback to Gary receiving chemo. After the nurse turns on the music, Gary gets a weird look and grabs a bucket. On screen, but no visual of the process. There is some on his lips afterwards. Audio. Should have time to mute.
Season 1 episode 10 - Gary and Maggie are in the car arguing after the Christmas party at Delilah's. Maggie vomits after Gary admits he loves her. It is audio and visual projectile resulting from chemo. Muting and looking away for about 10 seconds should do it. Dialogue consists of Maggie confirming that she is doing chemo.
Season 4 episode 19 - after Maggie's mom leaves the apartment, Gary gets a weird look on his face and runs off screen. He vomits loudly, but no visual. He vomits again after cutting to them in the bathroom. It's not immediate, but there is audible everything. Unsure of visual. After Maggie's procedure in this same episode, Gary is on the phone with her and vomits again. Gagging only. No audio or visual.
Season 5 episode 2 - Maggie deals with significant nausea with her pregnancy. About 5 and a half minutes in. Gary walks in after Maggie was sick on the floor. No audio, visual happens after Gary says he will clean it and grabs the paper towels. Their dog cleans it up. no visual after. Maggie gags very mildly when she goes to kiss Gary goodbye. No vomit. Maggie gags and runs out of the session due to discussing peanuts. You see her over the toilet but no visual and no audio.
Spoiler - Eddie is unable to make it to the bathroom after T leaves his wheelchair across the room when Katherine takes him to school and goes to work for the first time after the accident.
Maggie starts her first day in the studio and the first female caller mentions having problem with crying and passing gas. You can hear it in the background.
A veteran dating Gary panics after they get stuck in a closet doing renovations on the restaurant. I felt nervous and don't typically get nervous around small spaces.
The entire first season was about the aftermath of a suicide the occurred in the first episode. There are several flashbacks to it. Another character attempts suicide in the first episode because of depression, and a minor character discusses having those feelings in a later episode.
No, but he was attempting suicide in the first episode when he got the call that his friend had already committed suicide, and that stopped him from doing it.
Multiple characters hit by cars. One hit by a car as a pedestrian at the end of season 2 (hit and run), another is in a vehicle and is hit by a second vehicle in an earlier episode.
