Sotobamura is a small village with around 1300 residents; so small the village isn't even connected to a single highway. An isolated village in which old customs, such as the burial of the dead, are still practiced. One day, the bodies of three people are found dead. Although Ozaki Toshio, the village's lone doctor, feels uncertain, he treats the deaths as a normal occurrence. However, in the days following, the villagers start to die one after the other.
A dog dies off screen, but the emotional impact on the owner is central to the storyline, and the killing of a pet foreshadows the dangers coming to the human residents.
And adult human and a child-looking vampire who is actually hundreds of years old form an unlikely friendship, but nothing romantic or sexual is implied.
Possibly. A character named Nao has a brief flashback where she thinks about how she was in a negligent household as a child, but there aren’t specifics.
One of the characters, Megumi Shimizu, spies on Natsuno Yuuki from the very first episode by hiding outside his window. There is also a very strong theme of the villagers being watched/stalked by monsters throughout the show.
Some of the characters smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol but addiction isn't a major theme in the show. The vampires having intense hunger and needing blood to survive could be viewed as addiction.

Towards the end of the series a girl (Megumi Shimizu) has her head squashed by a tractor wheel. It is quite graphic but also quite obvious when it is about to happen because she is pinned to the ground in a field. It isn't actually shown that her teeth are damaged, but it can be assumed.
In episode 14, the doctor uses a scalpel to draw a few drops of blood from his finger. In the same episode, he also uses a scalpel on a vampire he is experimenting on. The cuts heal quickly but there is a lot of blood and graphic muscle and veins. Many characters are also stabbed and/or impaled with stakes.
A boy wakes up in a buried coffin as an ‘undead’, which is quite claustrophobic. He realises that he is undead and therefore not breathing anymore, which causes him to panic for a moment. In episode 18, a woman loses consciousness and dies after hyperventilating. Some characters also experience paranoia so may struggle to breathe.
The vampires blister and burn in sunlight, and some of them die this way in the later episodes of the show. In the season 2 opening there is also some imagery of people burning. In episode 22 an injured man falls into fire but it is unclear if he was already dead or if he died from the fire.
People are kidnapped from cities to be fed on by the vampires. The actual kidnapping process isn’t shown, but is mentioned. In episode 17, a woman is kidnapped in her home and tied up in a truck. She is not seen again in the show.
Hospitals play a massive part in the show. There are nurses and a doctor that are main characters. In episode 14, there is a very graphic scene where the doctor experiments on and medically tortures his own wife who turned into a vampire.
There is a character named Masao who may be neurodivergent. He is slapped by his father in one of the episodes and is disliked by many other characters.
No, but it is about vampire-like creatures, and sometime the story is shown from their perspective, how they are starving, so that can be triggering for someone.
There are several scenes that are claustrophobic. Once a guy is shown waking up in a coffin, once a child is kidnapped and trapped in a small room with a bad guy, there are narrow tunnels, a girl in a suitcase (though she gets in willingly), etc.
Possibly. In episode 14, a doctor pulls down the pants of a vampire he is experimenting on and her underwear is shown while he cuts her thigh. There is also some cleavage throughout the show.
In episode 21, a car side-swipes a small truck and causes it to overturn. Some people are wounded, but don’t die. In episode 22, a getaway car hits some other cars but only minor damage is caused. The car overturns but the driver is uninjured.
Someone’s head is nearly accidentally hit by a tyre on an electric scooter, but it stops just before it touches them. In episode 18, someone moves out of the way just before a car hits them. It's also mentioned in the same episode that the driver has been running over multiple people with the car. In episode 21, a man is deliberately hit head-on by a car and it is quite graphic. He has a head injury from this but escapes. In episode 22, a girl is deliberately hit and run over by tractors.
A window is broken with a gunshot in episode 17. In episode 20, more people are shot at and assumed to have been killed. In episode 21 a vampire man is shot multiple times with lots of blood, but survives these injuries.
