YES. Horse servitude is a common theme throughout the series. Racing, riding, and carriage/“working” horses in the background are a common sight. Many scenes where the horses are made to walk through chaotic sets, showing clear signs of distress.

There are mentions to how the shelby father abandoned his kids ten years earlier. it is shown that they suffered from it, the father returns in this episode. Later the father abandoned again his oldest son (now an 30 yo adult who chose to believe in him). I guess that counts as such

In season one, one of the main female characters is almost raped, when someone interrupts them at the last minute. In season two, another main female character is raped off screen, but it is very clear what is going to be done before the scene cut and what has been done after it. In S1E1 another female lead is grabbed by a group of men who threaten to rape her. In season three, another female lead is nearly raped and severely beaten in a very graphic and horrible scene, with no good resolution to it.

There are few main female characters who are not at least threatened with rape, if not attempted, or raped. It starts to run together at a certain point, with the mistreatment of women sexually. There are also multiple scenes where sex workers are abused, treated harshly, and talked about as if they were garbage or objects (even though the men who go to them are just depicted as being normal lads, because that's what lads do). In season one a sex worker is noticeably bruised by a man who pays for her time, and when it is pointed out, she notes that he is a very special customer, as if this were a complete explanation for whatever he does.

If sexual violence is something that bothers you, this may not be the best series for you. The scenes are numerous, throughout the seasons.

Spoiler!!! Do not go on if you don’t want it spoiled. There is a scene season 2 ep 6 where Tommy is to dig his own grave. I would have watched it had I known it doesn’t get to completion, but because it seemed like he was going to be forced to burry himself alive, it gave me great anxiety. Not to worry tho, watch it as it is a satisfying scene.
