There are small attempts of it whenever you point out a discrepancy. The person you're checking will probably say something around the lines of "you must be mistaken" or something else to try and excuse the discrepancy.

You have a son, and depending on how well you do at the game, he may be cold, sick, or hungry (or even die.) So a child suffers although it's not technically abuse.

Very mild. A number of people smuggle contraband drugs or medicine across the border. You see some low-pixel drawings of paraphernalia. No one actually uses drugs on screen.

A human trafficking ring is mentioned, with a trafficked woman begging you for help. You have the ability to detain the culprit and stop it, though.

No but people are presumably executed after being detained and the player can be executed. This is not on screen.

Just pixelated blood and sometimes the little dark pixel dudes up too can get blown to bits but it’s not super graphic because it’s highly pixelated

Technically yes, there are people blown apart by bombs but they’re low pixelated people if that helps. There is no one surviving amputation in the game.

Technically, there are bombings and suicide bombings so in a sense, probably. But no one burning alive on screen or anything. After the explosions there’s no fire, but one could presume the victims were burned.

You have a son, and he can die if he gets very sick and you don't have enough money to pay for his medicine.
Also, there is a subplot about a child who was killed. Both her father and her killer come through the line, and her father gives you her photo and asks you to help him get his revenge.

On some days there will be "terror attacks" that suddenly interrupt you as you're checking papers. The visuals are not too startling, but it does happen without warning and in later levels (when you have the gun) you have to react quickly. Also, on one day, someone abruptly deposits a bomb on your desk. It doesn't go off right away but the sight might be startling.

One person who refuses to leave gets pistol-whipped, but you only see the silhouettes when this happens. Also, while not depicted in a positive light, it is noteworthy to mention that border patrol will try to bribe you in order for them to make more arrests for money. Whether or not you play into the bribes is entirely up to you.

Yes, there are suicide bombers if I remember correctly. But it’s all low pixel graphics and there is little insight into their state of mind. They are not characters you are attached to. I hope this helps.

I wouldn't recommend this game for anyone who has trauma around misgendering. One of the discrepancies you're required to look for, as you play the game, is between the visual appearance of the characters and the sex on their IDs. If you don't catch it, you get a citation. If you find the "discrepancy," then you have to search the person, which means they get X-Ray photos taken of them, and you then evaluate their naked bodies. If their chests and genitals don't "match" the ID marker, you have to deny them entry or get a citation. The only option to mitigate any of this is that you can turn nudity off in the settings, which means the photos show underwear instead of genitals. But everything else is a mandatory, recurring part of the game.
