**possible spoilers** The husband of one of the characters is accused of and admits to having an affair, which sends her into spirals of anxiety, confusion, and self-doubt as to what is actually happening. The matter is resolved and truth is told.
A few offhand rude references, usually in relation to money or banking, are spoken by side characters shown to be crass, out of touch, or despicable in other ways. Not by the main/sympathetic characters.
Brief plot of side character father being verbally abusive to children and wife, but the wife stands up to him. Someone also recalls domestic violence in their past.
The dogfighting is described a little and it’s fairly graphic. Part 2, Chapter 9, right after they enter an apothecary shop (it’s a front for the arena) only lasts about two pages.
There is a relatively short but explicit description of past experiences having to do with forced sexual situations and marital rape one character had to go through in the past in the context of an abusive marriage. It’s very quick and the specifics are not the focus of the narrative, but rather used to drive home the trauma this character suffered at the hands of this ex-spouse.
