I do not think people here know what gaslighting means. It does not mean a scene where poison gas spreads, it means severe emotional manipulation. In the show, one of the two pairs is involved in a very abusive family dynamic, considering her mother is a corrupt politician, which caused her to run away. Seems to go beyond normal drama if someone is so abused, she decides to run away without any cash or anywhere to go.

Not rape exactly, but still major sexual harrasment. One of the contestants is a lesbian who does some creepy advances to Tuesday in a competition. Fans who speak French said the French song she sang. . . seemed rather obsessive. There are several LGBT characters, as this is a sci fi where queer people are generally accepted in the future, and not all of them are like this. . . but still. What a creep. Girl on girl abuse is even less discussed than girl on boy abuse, if you ask me.

There seems to be a lot of racism in this world, but rarely anything harmful when it comes to gender (what you identify as) or sexuality (who you are attracted to) discrimination. All of the LGBT characters are casually out of the closet, and it is not strange in this society to be so.

A lot of the show seems to take inspiration from modern political issues in its worldbuilding, especially of US Politics. Various shows in the anime after all, is named after American shows. It is why even in the sub, the songs in this musician show is sang in very fluent English by Western actors. One of the things this show tackles is discrimination issues in society, and the censorship this causes to musicians.
