Primal Fear
Movie • 1996 • Thriller
ReportAn arrogant, high-powered attorney takes on the case of a poor altar boy found running away from the scene of the grisly murder of the bishop who has taken him in. The case gets a lot more complex when the accused reveals that there may or may not have been a third person in the room. The intensity builds when a surprise twist alters everyone's perception of the crime.

There is video of clothes being taken off on command and starting to do non-consensual acts. We don't see past that but it's implied.

i would argue that some court scenes count as psychological torture since they're trying really hard to trigger a possible mental condition on a person and it can be really triggerring for some

a big plot point of the movie is that the members of a catholic organization are abused by the arch bishop (who dies at the start of the movie) the named characters involved in this all seem to be of age but since the organization is for people up to the age of 18 it can be presumed that underaged people were involved as well

whole movie sets up a character with all the tropes we know and despise:
- an 'innocent' looking character with a cartoonishly evil side
- 2 way split in good and bad side
- the bad personality is violent against everyone without exception, doesn't seem to be reasonable, makes fun of the other personality for being weak
- main personality isn't aware of the disorder and no one informs him throughout the entire movie
- forced switches between personality in public to prove a point
- a monolog of how the character in question is faking it to get out of persecution
- the movies twist being the character actually faking it and tricking his attorney into helping him be proven innocent

in some court scenes a attorney tries to discredit a diagnosis by mocking the symptoms described by a professional and implying some of the symptoms are a voluntary decision, it was very triggering for me since i heard that a lot before
