The scenes of genuine, unsimulated, inhumane (somehow legal) torture and killings of kangaroos are excessive. I have never seen this level of animal cruelty. I'm not even all that sensitive to animal death, but I had to fast forward. So while it may not be over the top special-effects gore of humans, I would still say this has excessive gore.

The whole movie revolves around a toxic masculine culture that exists in outback Australia. Beer is the drink of choice, and most of the movie focuses on drinking, being drunk, and the terrible effects of drunkenness on people and the environment.

According to The film makers, the gruesome kangaroo killing scenes were 100% real. when they were filming they encountered roo shooters and filmed the "usual" (as in this happens legally not that it is justifiable) things that would happen during any given shooting. the kangaroos were not killed specifically for the movie but that doesn't make the biggest killing of land wildlife on earth okay.

There are very, very brutal and extended scenes of shooting, and hitting kangaroos with a car. At least 40 animals are killed and shown in graphic, nauseating detail. There is also a scene of a greyhound chasing, tackling and killing a small kangaroo.

A greyhound whimpers when roughly handled by a drunk owner. A large kangaroo is hit multiple times by an angry drunk using balled fists. Hard to watch these scenes.

When one character has an outburst about the town. If you would like to know what he says ahead of time, he says (Trigger Warning: he mentions child SA) "You... burn your house down, murder your wife, r#pe your ch#ld, that's all right. But if I don't have a... *flamin'* bloody drink with you that's a criminal offence!"

Nothing explicit, but it does have 2 near-naked men cavorting prior to sex. In the international version, a man’s p***s and woman’s b*****s are shown. Censored for US puritans.

The mass shootings and roadkill deaths of kangaroos show a lot of real blood and gore, as well as broken bones, etc.

The scenes showing mass killings of kangaroos was not filmed for the movie, but was filmed during a real hunt operated by licensed killers.
