Main reason she died was cause she was weakened by the gunshot she received when she saw her son (in S3). A lot, since the whole show is a critic to the corruption and injustice that exists in governments and the police department. We are meant to sympathize with the robbers since they're telling the world a message about how the police are not always the good guys, but sometimes it will make you question "La Banda" too, telling that the police are supposedly the good guys (and how they'll do anything they can to mantain their name clean). So basically the copaganda here is more like to the spanish citizens in the show, who can choose to be on the police's side or the robbers' side
