We are shown a character (Kai) being affected by this in a way resembling a stereotypical high. All other times this is treated more as a "fear toxin" with some very odd hallucinations (For example, Kai sees the Serpentine as Elves and Gingerbread Men)

There is a few scenes with allusions to alcohol, most notably Kai(who has been stated to be in his teens) is shown early in season 4 to be in what appears to be a bar, drinking some sort of drink. It is referred to as "juice" by another character but given the context (Kai has thrown himself into a fighting ring in order to get over a friends death) Alcohol abuse is definitely suggested.
