Season 1 shows a teenage girl pursuing sexual encounters with much older men. She goes to a motel, where a man commits statutory rape. Another man accepts a fourteen-year-old's offer to have sex.
The end of S02 has a school play that is mostly about "humbling" (humiliating) a female character. When she snaps, the violence that ensues is played for laughs as usual. She has her head smashed into a wall and can later be seen with a bloody nose
There's intimidation and multiple physical altercations involving parents and their children. There's also at the very least physical abuse going on between romantic partners
When McKay and Cassie go back to his room after the college party, they start to have sex and a group of frat boys come into the room and assault McKay.
There is a scene where an underage character (16) has sex with a much older person, it is very sketchy, forceful, and she was filmed without her consent.
A girl is given intravenous drugs, she did consent but because she was experiencing withdrawal and needed something to stop it. She was fine afterwards.
S1E5 timestamp 27:56, Maddy has her hands cuffed to a table and her legs cuffed to the floor so officers at the police station can cut off her turtleneck to reveal bruising on her neck caused by Nate strangling her at the carnival in the prior episode.
Season 2 episode 1 min10:00-11:35 don’t watch if you are sensitive to that stuff. Someone gets their eye hit by the back of a hammer and the scene is pretty graphic.
S1E1: Someone cuts their arm with a knife and makes a deep wound. S1E4: A character cuts herself with off-screen. She is seen with blood dripping on her arms, though the cuts are not shown.
In s1 e4, a boy gets mad at his girlfriend at a fair and takes her behind some trailors and pins her against one of them while c* her. It is pretty graphic and disturbing.
The main character Rue ODs before the very first episode, it's shown as flashbacks later, more that one time if I'm not mistaken (in which her younger sister finds her unconscious). Then, Jules' special episode also shows Rue unconscious after taking drugs in the locked bathroom. There's an intense scene where Jules is crying and screaming trying to open the door
1/17/22: For everyone asking for a full list, this is every single occurrence in the show. I didn’t miss any scenes so use this it’s 100% accurate. Btw these time stamps are for HBO max, it could be slightly different on another viewing service. SEASON ONE: Episode one: when rue says, there are a few ways to pass a drug test, then talks about the chemical that will flush your system then says there are a few side effects, she lists them and includes nausea and v*ing but that’s just a mention. Then later rue is on the toilet taking a drug test: rue says “can we not do this right now mom” and then you see Gia walking (flashback) and she opens a door to see rue on the floor and there is v on her face. Starts 20:41 ends 20:53. Only visual and no actual throwing up. Episode two: after rue says “I know you’re not allowed to say it but drugs are kinda cool. That is until they wreck your…” then you see the same scene of rue with the v on her face. Starts 11:47. Ends 12:18. Only visual, same as last time. Also in ep 2, kat is walking in the hallway then she enters the bathroom. Then she enters a stall and throws up. Starts 28:32. Ends: 28:39. No visual at all, just audio. mute when you see her enter the bathroom. Episode 3: 100% safe. Episode 4: during the beginning-ish, man runs out of carnival ride and throws up in a trash can. No visual except for him bent over trash can but there is audio. Right after Nate walks back to the chili booth and cal says “if you ask me she’s a distraction” Starts 15:37 ends 15:45. Episode 5: cal is walking through the school hallway and enters the bathroom and throws up. Starts 11:57 ends 12:05. No visual, just audio but it does show his head bent over toilet from behind. Episode 6: in the very beginning, the child actor version of McKay throws up while practicing football. Happens somewhere between 1:05 and 3:20. I’m not going to watch it to find the exact time stamp. Nothing you see in that time interval is important anyways, just know that his father put a lot of pressure on him. Slight audio and full visual, although not very up close and detailed. You see it happen. Most triggering tu scene of season 1 I would say. Episode 7: 100% safe. Episode 8: after jules enters the bathroom, there is a birds eye view over all the toilet stalls. In one stall, you see a girls head bent over a toilet and you hear it. Starts 17:35 ends 17:41. No visual except head bent over toilet but there is audio so mute it. SEASON TWO: Episode one: 100% safe. Episode two: 100% safe. Episode three: 100% safe. Episode four: NOT SAFE. The worst scene yet by far. Audio and visual and you see the aftermath. And they slightly talk about it immediately after. Starts at exactly 41:41 and ends at 42:25. It happens in the hot tub while maddy and Nate are arguing and it is immediately after maddy says “have my babies”. Episode five: Rue dry heaves once while on a street corner at 31:21 with no warning, right after she runs out of the couples house from their front door. The time stamps are wonky so use these descriptions. Then very soon after, a policeman asks her where she’s headed and she gags, and then he says “what was that” and she says “I’m actually headed-“ then throws up. Audio and visual. It lasts <10 seconds. Then at like 36:43 (five minutes after the first throw up scene) after rue climbs out of a garbage can and jumps a fence and falls on the ground, mute it bc she dry heaves (no tu but it was triggering to me). Then later when she’s at the kitchen table with Laurie, rue says “I think I’m gonna be sick” then mute it and the captions will say *vomiting* and then *vomiting continues* and then it’s safe. Bad audio but no visual. Episode 6: 100% safe. Episode 7: 100% safe. Episode 8: 100% safe. Overall this show is still worth it to watch even with emetophobia.
the previous comment is a bit over dramatic. he just says to cassie “ur hot but i’m tryna take a s**t we hear and see absolutely nothing!! as someone w a severe issue w that kind of stuff there was nothing wrong w this scene
The police are highly competent and motivated when investigating Nate's abuse of Maddy, especially considering his father is wealthy and popular in the community. A female detective even makes a point of assuring Maddy 'the person that did this doesn't love you'.
In childhood, Jules is admitted to a psychiatric hospital. (Ep 4. Only ends 8 mins in). The conditions she's kept in can remind Autistics of trauma in ABA therapy, psych wards, and other forced therapies. I'm Autistic and it was an intensely triggering sequence. SPOILERS: The plot info in the sequence so you can skip: Her mom was the one that admitted her. Jules SHs. It's said she got better and could leave the ward after a bit. Her mom got worse. Her dad quit his job to be closer to home, Jules loves her dad. Jules started to transition at 13 (shown with help of dad, no mom), and began having sex with older, cis, white men at 16 in secret. At 8:07, the psych sequence ends.
In the ep 2 intro they talk and show Nate (as a kid and teen) obsessively working out to lose body fat in an extremely unhealthy way, but it's a short scene
Rue is diagnosed with a number of mental illnesses at the beginning of the series, and she is shown having severe mood swings in which she is irritable and lashes out at her loved ones, throwing things and threatening her mom with broken glass (it should be noted that some of these outbursts are due to her being an addict and not necessarily her mental illnesses).
Graphic panic attack in the ep 1 intro (around the 2 min mark), when Rue is a child, and later the same episode at the party Rue talks explicitly about a panic attack just after the 40 min mark (pretty short scene though) - could be others, haven't seen every ep yet
There are 3 characters who present it; one for being trans, another for not being "manly" enough and a third one for being fat (I wouldn't describe them as overweight but just plus sized or thicc). The third one is shown to have overcome it after puberty
Rue and Cassie are prone to having them (and Nate has at least one.. sorry for the lack of episode or scene details rn, this show burns me out so i'm just writing this so you know whose scenes to look out for)
the main character rue from i know has bipolar disorder, anxiety, and OCD there’s speculation that cassie might have BPD but it hasn’t been mentioned in the show
No unborn children on sight but there are babies in flashback scenes. In S2 we see one of those of Rue looking at baby Gia in the hospital, there are many other babies in the maternity room, none crying.
I am making a good salary from home $7580-$9065/week , which is amazing, under a year ago I was jobless in a horrible economy. I thank God every day I was blessed with these instructions,Definitely a try....,
kat does briefly mention the holocaust in ep 3 but there's no antisemitism behind it, it was just a little surprising to hear out of no where as a Jewish person
There are a lot of b***s and dicks throughout the show. pretty much the only major character not seen nude is Rue, and I'm sure that's only because Zendaya still works for disney
Cassie. I'd argue there is more to her than her sex appeal but you have to actually connect w her character to get that ig - and i'm not sure how much of it is actually on purpose or despite the writers' attempts at making her nothing but a sexual object the audience can feel comfortable s******g on (by parroting the worst male characters for instance)
A character's dad had cancer. Another character's relative is shown in a medical bed with a heart rate monitor and IV medications. Just in the background of a scene, their illness is unknown
