The protagonist seems to reach a peace with himself and his situation, and the tone of the ending is happy and hopeful. There is not a rom-com style happy ending in the sense that the characters who had a major conflict and went from best friends to enemies do not have a reconciliation or anything (not that I think they necessarily should, but if you're looking for something with an unambiguously feel-good and happy tone this may not be it)
