If this is a trigger for you, I’d recommend avoiding the last few sections of Volume 5; (spoilers) the furniture in the room Valjean is staying in keeps getting removed, and both Marius and Valjean say that it’s normal whenever Cosette asks

Uncertain; the Thenardiers had a cat when they’re in Montfermeil and when the story focuses on them again in Paris they don’t. AFAIK, there’s no mention of what happened to it

Yes, and it's very heartwrenching. A mother dies of pneumonia while waiting to see her child. A father also dies before he can be reunited with his estranged son. Finally, a father dies with his child at his bedside.

This is debatable. When Jean Valjean is dying it says that he seems to see the, at this point long dead, Bishop Myriel and it is left to the reader to decide whether or not this was a ghost or a figment of his imagination.

First, a character deliberately burns his own flesh with a hot poker. He does this more to make a point about how tough he is than from self-loathing, though. Second, there is some pretty vicious emotional self-harm toward the end of the book. There is a character who denies himself loving social connections with his family because he thinks he doesn't deserve it. He has a daily ritual where he essentially punishes himself by starting to reach out for contact, then making himself stop, which drives him further into depression. Pretty rough reading.

No; however, there are a number of characters who go starving, or who are forced to ration a small amount of food over a long time, due to extreme poverty. This is sometimes described in detail.

Jean Valjean is buried alive in a coffin which is claustrophobic. Some of the scenes that take place in the sewers could be quite claustrophobic.

Okay...no character in Les Miserables is openly or explicitly gay (or bi or trans.) Some of the revolutionary students who die do have intense homosocial bonds with each other. You can kinda read into the text and decide that they're gay, but it's not really something I would say is canon.

Hugo has pretty standard views for a 19th century white guy on several ethnicities. He’s good about it a lot of the time, but sometimes something wildly racist comes out during one of the digressions with little to no warning

Enjolras is described as looking like a young girl but is never actually referred to as a woman.
Eponine is mistaken for a boy when she is wearing men's clothing.

Actually, yes. Parents are shown placing coins in the shoes that children leave out for "the good fairy" on Christmas Eve. However, the book is much too difficult for young children to read.

The scene is not graphic, and is done mostly by implication. As soon as the character has fallen into the water, the chapter ends.
