There is a relationship between a character with no concept of sexuality and one that is somewhat sexual, which could be seen as one character being taken advantage of
The main group of characters are made out of rock and can be placed back together. While no gore is seen, their body parts can be broken off. A common way to incapacitate the Gems is through decapitation it seems.
Most of the bodies that display the body horror are flesh and are rock or liquid metal or some other substance when most of these occurrences of "body horror" happen, having an abstract look to them.
*SPOILERS*
There is a character that after surviving the apocalypse, has opened her chest to allow pieces of machinery to keep her alive. She is shown digging around and draining excess oil from the machinery.
In one chapter one of the gems get's their eye picked out and quickly replaced to be followed by them saying "i feel sick". No blood/gore was included but could be disturbing to some.
No, butttt there is a whole "race" if you may call them that, with expressionless faces. It may or may not evoke those of statues, masks or mannequins, and they appear right at the beginning and through the whole series.
Some people interpret Ghost Quartz as having D.I.D due to having another gem inside them that sometimes takes control/tries to assist them in what they’re doing, but they get separated at a point in the story.
This was most likely never meant to be D.I.D and wouldn’t be a good representation of it.
Most of the Gem people do, and a good portion of the storyline touches on themes of PTSD from constantly being under threat and losing close ones. Characters deal with it in different ways.
Different translations use different pronouns for the characters so there’s fan drama about it, however no one is willfully misgendered in the series because most of the characters aren’t even aware of the concept of gender.
Yes and no. All the characters are sexless/nonbinary, and the majority cannot technically die as they are immortal. It is still implied that they suffer loss from it though
There are, but since the characters are made of chiseled gem and their bodies only resemble that of a human's external appearance, they don't actually seem /naked bodies/ even when they are nude.
There’s a possibility that one of the species’ had to have incestuous relationships to repopulate, but they could also just reproduce asexually. It’s up for interpretation.
One of the characters has a disability where they are in a coma for extending periods of time, getting less time awake every time they come out of the coma. The implication is that someday, the character will no longer wake up due to this disability.
Padparadscha’s holes can be interpreted as a chronic illness due to it making them almost always in a coma (unless the holes are filled in with a similar material, though that only fixes it temporarily.)
If I really stretch what can be considered a chronic illness, Cinnabar’s mercury can be considered one since it impacts their ability to be around other gems and doesn’t seem to have many, if any, positive effects on them.
Major spoilers for the end of the manga below this!
Both of these are “cured” by the end of the series, though only through turning them into Lunarian’s and therefore making it impossible for their issues/illnesses to exist. Padparadscha’s “cured” state is only shown in the extra book “Party at The End”
One character experiences extreme memory loss to the point of forgetting who they are. Also, any character can lose memories quite easily, but this mostly just happens to the main character.
There is body horror, and it gets worse and worse the more the story unfolds, BUT since the characters are made of gems, there is no blood nor gore. However, some scenes can be really gruesome for those sensible to body horror.
