Seems like some clarification is needed. Spoilers follow, specifically the ending of the movie.
Movie starts with the dog’s voiceover saying the end is near, then the story happens. We come back to the opening scene toward the end of the movie, where our now senior dog knows his time is almost up. We are shown that he has trouble standing and sometimes urinates on himself. His owner takes him for one last “race” and they ride together in the best scene in the whole movie.
While very tear-inducing due to what we know is coming and how sweet his last scene is, the dog’s death is not shown on screen, nor is there any funeral shown.
Again...ending spoilers here:
The epilogue flashes forward 8 years after the final scene with the dog. We know the dog has died years ago at this point, but the movie has a theme of reincarnation that is hinted at throughout, and this may have occurred at the end.

Some may consider it abuse that the dog gets left home alone without food/water/potty breaks for 48 hours, though it was unintentional neglect when we realize why it happened.

A man claims to have been pushed and cracked a rib. He is lying about the assault, but whether he was injured is kind of unclear

Not a child, but a woman dies whose parents and their grief are key parts in the movie

The dog has an upset stomach that causes farts and diarrhea. Shown for a very humorous scene.

Nothing graphic is shown, unless a woman being comforted while in labor is too much for you to handle.

The dog gets hit off screen, due to being walked off leash in the rain, but is shown lying down in the street unconscious. If I’m remembering correctly, x-rays are shown of the injury. The vet is vague with the injury specifics, though she hits home the severity of the multiple injuries being degenerative for a senior dog.
