there are frequent shots of working animals on the plantation - horses, cows, dogs, poultry - but none of them die or have mentioned deaths. there is a possibility that chickens die as a result of riding horses carelessly around them (1:30:00-1:30:10), but after rewatching the scene a few times i couldn't see anything more than the animals scattering.

the violence is upsetting and difficult to watch due to the nature of the film, but very little is actually seen - it's mostly cut aways or close ups on people's faces. the most significant depictions of gore are a person getting their ear cut off (the cutting is not seen, the ear is thrown down afterwards) and a shot at the end of severed heads on pikes (not seen closely, not particularly realistic looking).

at around 1:30:00, horses are being ridden into the plantation. they ride into a group of chickens. the birds are slow to avoid the horse's hooves and it looks like some might get knocked about. i'm not completely sure what happens to them due to the quality of the video, but they're certainly placed in danger even if they're uninjured. you won't miss anything if you skip ten seconds forward to when the birds are off-screen.
