In addition to the abusive/manipulative nature of John and Harley's relationship, a major plotline involves the player's options to manipulate John. When John has doubts about your honesty and faithfulness as a "friend," you can optionally appease, confuse, or lie to him in an effort to get him to remain loyal to you.

The case could be made that a certain character can (in some playthroughs) become abusive where they were originally the only one being abused.

John Doe is stated to have listed Bruce as his emergency contact, unbeknownst to Bruce, and a photo on the wall shows John outside of Wayne Manor, presumably without Bruce knowing. This could be interpreted as stalking.

In the opening scene and in further scenes in the first episode. The torture box cuts off a mans fingers and so does a trap in Riddler's lair

A main character who is a father is murdered. Also, the murder of Bruce's parents is heavily referenced and a side character is stated several times to have a dead father.

Harley says that John is a two-timer for having gone with Bruce's plans instead of her own if he gets to thwart her on the bridge. While not technically cheating, you are able to make John jealous of you in earlier episodes by getting close to Harley after he tells you he's in love with her.

Characters are captured and held at threat. In Villain route, Bruce along with several characters are kidnapped, and in Vigilante route, only one character is kidnapped.

^ Hard disagree at least in regards to the franchise as a whole it’s more like varying degrees since…well no crap this franchise had gone on for 80 years now so of course it’s gonna shift with cultural attitudes.

This is a critical element of the plot, and if this is a major trigger I suggest you skip this game entirely. A mentally-ill person (with symptoms largely presenting as some form of BPD, but ranging from hallucinations, manic states, delusions, psychosis) is shown to have extreme feelings that can erupt into violence.

A prominent main character who was formerly a patient at Arkham Asylum and a different character who is explicitly mentally ill are considered weird or crazy by other characters. Characters with mental illnesses or addictions aren't treated very well.

There are MANY scenes of heavy violence with blood and gore, a scene with bloody body parts, a part where Bruce gets impaled, a one scene where the player must tend to an open wound. Very gross.

There are some scenes that may be too much to those are sensitive. Fingers are severed, throats are graphically punctured and slit, a torture victim's stomach is painstakingly sliced open to remove an object inside, people are impaled, etc

Multiple people get tortured throughout the episodes, some of which are saved and some are dead on arrival. One character can optionally become deaf, and one torture won't occur in one of the routes.
