This is a critical element of the plot, and if this is a major trigger I suggest you skip this game entirely. A mentally-ill person (with symptoms largely presenting as some form of BPD, but ranging from hallucinations, manic states, delusions, psychosis) is shown to have extreme feelings that can erupt into violence.
