SPOILERS_______________In S7 Ep 7, Mateo reveals that his mother in law (who lives with him) wants to kill him. The show is mainly sympathetic towards Mateo, but also victims blames by suggesting Mateo recieves the abuse because he is a neglectful father. When Mateo tries to leave, his mother in law verbally abuses him, holds him at gunpoint and ties him up (he is gagged too). When a friend calls the police, the police don't want to do anything and minimise the abuse. The mother in law sets fire to Mateo's motorbike, and there's a gunshot and it's made to look like she killed him. However, he has managed to escape and is physically unharmed.___________In S8 Ep6, a woman kidnapps a man and makes him marry her at gunpoint
