a rooster gets its neck snapped in episode 6 in the barn, they talk about it a bit first so you have time to leave ;;; dont be worried about the barn scenes in episodes 9 or 10 because they're totally safe

S1E4 around 21 mins in, the motel owner has leeches on her skin. You can see them on her for the whole scene, lasting until about 22 mins and 40 seconds.

In the first episode, there is a scene in a bathroom where the visiting priest's head is repeatedly slammed into the toilet, crushing his skull. It is a quick cut, but is pretty graphic.

In S1E3, during the flashback with Dr Hanover, a character purposefully breaks his arm by trapping it behind a dresser. It’s pretty graphic

I would say there is enough tension and sudden loud sounds to be considered jump scares.

The most glaring example is hearing a lobotomy be performed.

Vomiting happens about 39 minutes and 27 seconds into episode 1. The actual vomiting is until around 39 minutes and 34 seconds, but you can still see the vomit on the floor until about 39 minutes and 39 seconds. In episode two, the vomiting happens about 19 minutes and 35 seconds in, and ends around 19 minutes and 42 seconds. Both are graphic and up close.

Most of the show takes place within a mental institution.

No electro-therapy but other inhumane “treatments” are performed on people in the facility. *SPOILER* *CONTENT WARNING: TORTURE* Early in S1E3 a lesbian woman is given experimental “treatment” for her homosexuality without her consent or foreknowledge. The character is placed in a warm bath and then trapped via a metal contraption. The water temperature is raised until almost boiling. This goes one for a couple agonizing minutes then she is transferred to an ice bath. She is clearly in pain and begs until she is no longer able to do so. I thought she was going to die.

It depends, in S1E2 a child that is presented as being very shy, introverted, nerdy is given a lobotomy for daydreaming and innatentiveness. The idea that he was autistic came to mind (I am also autistic and a psychologist), but it is nothing explicit and it is not shown.

It's implied that Edmund's mother may have been r*ped by the Monsignor. In S1E2, about 38 minutes and 50 seconds in, Dr. Hanover mentions in his monologue that Edmund r*ped one priest. In S1E2 about 43 minutes and 36 seconds in, you see a flash back of Edmund attacking the Monsignor from the point of view of Father Andrews hiding under the bed. You can hear panting, but you can't really see Edmund. It's over in under ten seconds.

The first person to die is white, and you see his dead body first. However, after seeing the white man's dead body, the first person you see the murderer actually attack is black.

gay people are constantly referred to as sodomites and this is set in an era where being gay was still classified as a “mental illness”
