Follows 20-year-old Drea, who reluctantly takes a job babysitting for a professor of a college she hopes to attend. Struggling to entertain the professor's children Trissy and Jake, along with her own little brother Phillip , Drea takes them on a hike, unaware that mysterious alien critters have crash-landed and started devouring every living thing they encounter.
This movie contains 2 potentially triggering events.
One of the children being babysat - Jake - only communicates through texting - and it's played for laughs (like "kids these days only know charge phone and hot chip") in a very boomer-humor kinda way. In practice, it ends up looking a whole lot like a nonverbal autistic character (even though I don't think that was the intention). The character just ends up speaking out loud about an hour into the movie.
The main character's mother died 2 years prior to the events of the movie - and the sushi chef's nephew is the first victim of a crite attack in the opening of the movie.
The mother of the main child characters already died in a car crash, but is referenced several times throughout the movie. Uncle Lewis the sheriff, their father figure, also does from critter bites.
