There are really no animals in this old miniseries about the colonization of Mars. But, SPOILER ALERT, since he show features a nuclear war that destroys all life back on Earth, you could at that all the animals die, even though you haven't seen them.

That is not clear. When a Colonist meets a Martian, they can't touch each other, and appear transparent of sorts. Each accuse the other of being a ghost. But each says they are alive in their own time period, and don't know who is future and who is past. It is rather confusing.

A Martian dies from involuntarily rapidly changing form into the form of the person most sought by the human closest to him. The rapid changing would act somewhat like a seizure, as it causes his body to go into cardiac arrest, I think, and he dies.
