One of the secondary characters smokes. Also, the main character has a serious obsession with movie celebrities and collecting autographs.

While it is never specifically addressed as such in the film, the protagonist displays many traits of autism in a rather caricaturised manner, and in behind the scenes commentary it is confirmed he is supposed to be autistic. The portrayal is, however, unflattering at best, and actively harmful at worst, seemingly sending the message that as the protagonist is autistic, he should therefore not only not be blamed for his violent actions, but that violent and unpredictable behaviour is to be expected.
