Other (adult) characters do objectify the young couples in the ballroom competition, but I don't think the film itself does. I think those couples are probably meant to still be in school, given that both of our protagonists live at home with their parents without anyone making a big deal out of it, but they could be in their early twenties instead. Most of the girls wear pretty revealing costumes for the competition, so if that makes you uncomfortable it's worth holding in mind, though I think the costumes are treated as more ridiculous than anything else by the film.
