We are immediately shown a dead dog discovered by his person, and the corpse is gory. Another dog is identified as dangerous early on in the story, and repeatedly shot at until finally it is violently killed.
In the beginning a child's hair is painfully pulled for biting one of the protagonists. He also almost gets beaten with a baseball bat and it's implied that that is not unusual
A dead rabbit is seen at the beginning (hunting). A pig is later killed by its keeper because it has the disease. We hear squealing and see guts. A deer is also shot following a collision with a car.
One character tries to finger another and for it seems like her genitals were rotting as when he pulls his hand up there’s blood and flesh. There’s also a hole in her leg so he could’ve accidentally been fingering that but I’m not totally sure.
The people who are infected vomit blood a lot. There are three main instances: a crazy man obviously infected tries to steal the car and vomits blood in the car multiple times; later, one of the girls vomits blood when she’s about to get into the car; towards the end, one of the guys vomits blood when confronting the cop Winston, and other people vomit blood immediately after as well. It’s not that bad if you’re only sensitive to actual vomit, not blood. But if you’re sensitive to any liquid, then I’d skip this movie.
Not explicitly, the child in the beginning could be interpreted as being autistic and he has his hair pulled and is threatened with a baseball bat to stop biting
The suburban teenagers ask a hillbilly shopkeeper what his shotgun is for. "That's for *hard R n-word*". Used to show the discomfort of the protagonists in their rural setting.
Subverted at the end, as it's shown the gun has been repaired and cleaned for Black customers.
The movie also contains multiple uses of the r-word ableist slur.
The characters all throw around curses and slurs in a way that feels very of its time, though also intentionally edgy, as opposed to naturalist. Words include the r-word, gay, slut, pussy. The n-word is used for shock value.
Sex scenes where a woman is topless. A conversation about masturbating with a shower head and character saying his dog licked his genitals while he was masturbating.
