At the height of the First World War, two young British soldiers must cross enemy territory and deliver a message that will stop a deadly attack on hundreds of soldiers.
There is a smaller terrier dog as they are walking through the starting trenches which is fine and doesn't come into the movie again.
The corpse of a larger pit bull looking dog is seen covered in mud as they approach the farm house. It isn't shown again but is mentioned as they drive away when one of the soldiers asks "is that a dead dog?"
Characters walk through foggy no man's land and there is an extended scene of a character walking (then running) through a town on fire which causes the air to be bright orange and hazy.
No, but there's a baby in a very bad situation - orphaned, unidentified and living with a woman in a basement in an abandoned town that's completely in ruins. The woman cares for the baby as well as she can, but they lack basic necessities, they're alone and hiding, surrounded by fighting, and there seems to be no hope for an improvement of their situation anytime soon. Both the woman and the baby may very well not survive.
no, but a character warns another character that they should have witnesses for an important errand they're running, implying someone else may try to change the narrative if that character gets in their way. the story doesn't dwell on this at all.
Not on screen, but the two dead dogs shown are near an abandoned farm that is implied to have been somewhat recently abandoned, so they could have been pets.
While the 2 protagnists of the story climb up to see the battleground early in the movie, there are a couple of dead horses. The camera get’s quite close on the horses and you can see flies fly away from the horses.
A character is shoved against a pillar by another character and held forcibly there with a hand over their mouth to keep them quiet. They don't end up keeping quiet and they are then thrown to the ground and kept there by the other character via sitting on top of them and restraining them by the throat. The character being restrained eventually dies.
Not really besides a lot of corpses, but there is a scene towards the end of the movie where a character is walking through a field hospital and there are a lot of wounded people on beds. Their injuries, including amputations, are shown when the camera sweeps over them.
Not on purpose but one of the protagonists cuts his hand on some barbed wire and the may be more cuts happening throughout the movie that arent on purpose
in an early scene, a character is buried in debris and when he surfaces, he's clearly struggling to breathe from the dust. lots of wheezing and asthma-breathing sounds. in another scene, a character struggles to breathe while being swept down a river, but he survives. in another scene, a character chokes an enemy soldier.
not as the singular focus of a scene, but a scene late in the movie in a medical tent shows some glimpses of severed limbs which includes broken bones.
The protagonist strangles an enemy soldier to death. The scene is brief and shown in the dark, but you can see the enemy soldier struggling before he dies.
No one fall to their death on screen. At some point a protagonist does stumble upon some corpses floating at the edge of the water after he falls down a waterfal. It is unknown whether all those people drowned, fell to their death, were shot, fell into the water and ended up there etc.
A character falls down the stairs and passes out when he hits the ground, causing the screen to go black. He's then shown waking up slowly, gets up, and the movies continues.
no small children die, but many of the soldiers are clearly young men and are in peril most of the movie. there are a lot of distressed, injured, and dead soldiers throughout the movie.
when the characters are in the bunker and a rat falls onto the ground, something very loud and unexpected happens shortly after. a few other similar scenes occur. no "horror jumpscares," just lots of loud/unexpected blasts because it is a war movie.
There is a long scene with a fast moving river. A character jumps into it, struggles to keep afloat, and is then carried over a waterfall. Right after this there is another long scene where he continues to struggle to stay above water until he reaches a pool where he then swims onto the shore. He survives.
in the besieged town, when the character sneaks out in the early morning, you see a german soldier stumble out of a building, drunk. he leans over and vomits. it's at a distance, but you can see and hear it.
While fleeing from a shooting enemy soldier among ruins at night, one of the protagonists escapes into a basement, in which he encounters a woman. They talk, and after a while a baby that we didn't know was there starts crying, and we find out that it's lying in an open drawer. At least I'm pretty sure that it cries; in any case, it needs to be comforted (which the adults proceed to do). The baby's discomfort doesn't last long; it ends up completely calm.
A character screams for help when buried under rubble and another gasps/yelps loudly when stabbed. There's also shouting during a chase scene and the soldiers yell things to each other throughout the movie. Towards the end of the movie there's a long scene where a group of soldiers charge the enemy and there's a sort of muffled collective yelling from the large group.
a british soldier makes a joke about how an indian soldier can barely speak english, but none of the other soldiers receive this well and one suggests that the indian guy speaks better english than he does.
A character gives the protagonists a Christian/Catholic blessing, asking God to forgive whatever sins they may have committed (as is usually done by a religious leader before someone dies), before they head into danger at the beginning of the movie.
there is a prolonged scene involving a character being dragged down a river, frequently getting pulled underwater, and eventually dropping down a waterfall. he survives, but he is clearly choking on water the entire time. he later comes across several dead bodies in the river. it's unclear if they died from drowning but they are bloated from being in the river.
The corpse of a larger pit bull looking dog is seen covered in mud as they approach the farm house. It isn't shown again but is mentioned as they drive away when one of the soldiers asks "is that a dead dog?"
