In the first five minutes, Molly Ringwold finds her cat on the bed, assuming it’s asleep. She lifts the cat to reveal a pool of blood underneath and screams in horror. The cat is either in a deep sleep or anesthetized. Either way, by the end of the scene, a director yells “cut” and the viewer learns none of it is real, it’s merely a movie shoot in progress.

Technically it's in the movie within the movie that's been filmed, but you do see a limp bloody cat about 3 minutes in, and again 21 minutes in when they screen the old film.
